BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on additional measures to optimize and increase the efficiency of scientific institutions under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
According to the decree, the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan must ensure the implementation of the following measures in stages by the end of 2025 and report the results to the President of Azerbaijan:
The creation of the following public legal entities under the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan (hereinafter referred to as the Ministry):
Geology Institute based on the Geology and Geophysics Institute and the Oil and Gas Institute;
Geography Institute based on the Academician Hasan Aliyev Institute of Geography and the Soil Science and Agrochemistry Institute;
Physics Institute based on the Physics Institute and the Radiation Problems Institute;
Chemistry Institute based on the Academician Murtuza Naghiyev Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry and the Academician Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemical Compounds;
Mathematics Institute based on the Institute of Management Systems and the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics;
Botany Institute based on the Botany Institute and the Dendrology Institute;
Institute of Living Systems Research based on the Zoology Institute and the Academician Abdulla Garayev Institute of Physiology;
Molecular Biology Institute, based on the Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Institute, the Microbiology Institute, and the Biophysics Institute;
Creation of two new scientific institutions with modern infrastructure and research and experimental production facilities in line with international standards;
Transfer of the Polymer Materials Institute under the Ministry to the Sumgait State University;
Transfer of the Ecology and Natural Resources Institute (Ganja), Bioresources Institute (Ganja), Agricultural Problems Institute (Ganja), and Botanical Garden (Ganja) to the Ganja State University;
Transfer of the Natural Resources Institute (Nakhchivan), Bioresources Institute (Nakhchivan), and Batabat Astrophysical Observatory (Nakhchivan) to the Nakhchivan State University;
The abolition of the "Nafta" Scientific Production Association, the "Ashgar" Scientific Production Association, and the "Kompozit" Scientific Production Association under the Ministry;
The Ministry must also address other issues arising from this decree.
The Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan must take necessary measures to address the issues arising from this decree.
The Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan must ensure that the necessary financial resources for the maintenance of newly created scientific institutions are provided in the draft state budgets for the coming years, following this decree.
