The number of swine flu victims has reached 57 people in Turkey, the Turkish Milliyet newspaper reported citing the health ministry April 2.

Some 170 cases of infection have been registered in Turkey since early 2015.

The swine flu, or A/H1N1, was detected in late March 2009 in Mexico, the US and Canada, where the first death cases were registered. Back in April 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced a swine flu pandemic, gradually raising the level of threat.
Immediate actions were taken for global vaccination against this virus.

On June 11, 2009, the WHO, for the first time in over 40 years, officially announced the introduction of the sixth - the highest - level of pandemic threat due to the rapid spread of the A/H1N1 flu throughout the world.

According to the WHO, more than 18,500 cases of H1N1 lethal infection were registered in the world.

The infected were found in more than 200 countries.
