A priority task is to keep the UN mission in the country, Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze said, while commenting on extending the UN mission's mandate in the zone of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict.
"Our first objective is to deter Russia from dividing the mission into two parts and creating the illusion that the mandate functions in two different countries," the minister said.
Vashadze said the second objective is to keep a mandate enabling UN observers to trace the movement of Russian troops and Abkhaz separatists in territories near the Georgian administrative border.
