Azerbaijani Defence Minister, Colonel General Safar Abiyev met with Slovenian Defence Minister Roman Jakic in Baku on Thursday.
During the meeting, Abiyev mentioned the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Slovenia in recent years and stressed that the military agreement signed between the two countries creates great opportunities for the development of cooperation.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijani Defence Minister informed the guest about the tense military and political situation in the region and about the reasons of pendency of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
For his part, Roman Jakic noted that he was aware of the reasons of the conflict and the factors impeding its settlement.
During the meeting, the parties stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in the sphere of military education and development of other forms of cooperation.
The guest added that the 95th anniversary of legendary Mikhailo - Mehdi Huseynzade will be celebrated in Slovenia next year. Roman Jakic invited his Azerbaijani counterpart to participate in this event.
The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Slovenia Galib Israfilov also participated in this meeting.
