Member of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Bureau and Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Political Affairs and Security, Azay Guliyev received the Ombudsman of Moldova Aurelia Grigoriu, on Thursday
Human Rights Commissioner of Moldova, Aurelia Grigoriu spoke in details about the attacks on her after a speech at the international conference 'Rule of law in the Council of Europe member countries and look at the borders in accordance with European standards', organized at the Constitutional Court of Armenia on July 4.
In her speech the Ombudsman accused the Armenian government in the occupation of Azerbaijani territories and the genocide of Azerbaijani people. She also declared Armenia the aggressor and underlined that this country does not adhere to international norms.
Grigoriu noted with regret that after her speech in Armenia she faced pressures and threats, and obstacles were created during her departure from the country.
She were demanded to make an official apology to Armenia, otherwise they threatened her with revenge.
Moldovan Ombudsman asked Azay Guliyev to assist her in defending her rights in such cases and to raise the issue in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
Guliyev thanked Grigoriu for objective and fair speech and noted that the incident that occurred in Armenia, once again proves that this country does not comply with international law and does not respect basic ethical standards of the developed cultural society.
Guliyev believes that this event is a great shame for Armenia and a gross violation of human rights.
Guliyev said he will keep Aurelia Grigoriu's appeal in the focus and raise the issue at the OSCE PA.
