The number of the people, died of TB at the Azerbaijani prisons, dropped by 30% as compared previous years, Trend reports quoting Rafael Mehdiyev, the head of the health department of the Justice Ministry.
According to Mehdiyev, they held measures on rendering of quality medical service by the department, improvement of medical and sanitary provision of prisoners. The number of the people, died of TB at prisons, dropped as a result of the cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross and other international organizations within the program on struggle with tuberculosis, he added.
Mehdiyev reported that the facts of death were related to the disease and they were mainly registered at medical institution 3. The number of the prisoners, died due to other reasons (murder, suicide), is relatively low.
