Honorable Ranks to be Conferred upon Azerbaijani Journalists

Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 June /corr. TrendNews E.Babayev / The Press Council commenced works to confer honorable ranks upon journalists. "On the eve of 22 July - National Press Day, pack of proposals is being prepared to confer honorable ranks upon the journalists," the Chairman of the Press Council, Aflatun Amashov, said on 2 June. 

Two years ago, on the eve of 130th anniversary of the National Press of Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev signed an order conferring honorable ranks upon 140 journalists. Part of journalists was conferred the rank of honorable journalist and other part - Taraggi ('Progress') medal. 

Amashov said that there is necessity to confer honorable ranks upon journalists. Last time appeals were received from nearly 1500 journalists, but it was possible to award part of them. "Currently we receive such appeals as well. The Press Council studies," Amashov said, adding that the congress of the Azerbaijani journalists scheduled for 20 June will focus on this issue.   

An appeal is expected to be made to the journalist on this issue.
