Two Azerbaijani Judges Punished for Creating Corruption Conditions

Azerbaijan, Baku, 14 July /corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / Two judges were punished for creating conditions for corruption. During the session of Court-Legal Council, official reprimand was given to the judge of Binagadi District Court of Baku city, Sevil Mammadova, and judge Shemki District Court, Emrah Najafov was transferred to another job.Administrative execution for the violation of the requirements of legislation began with regards to one judge during the session.

Last year as a result the estimation of the activity of judges, more than 30 judges were dismissed, and over the last two years, disciplinary production began with regards to 50 judges, as well as three persons were previously deprived of their authorities for corruption offenses, and the three more persons were transferred to lower post. Last year, according to the order by State Head, the judical staff was increased by 50 percent. This ensured the decrease of the load of judges and cases of red tape in their activity, and also the more qualitative examination of the cases.

Currently 327 courts function in Azerbaijan and number of vacancies is more than 200.
