Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 September / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva/The lawsuits by the Azerbaijani ex-Health Minister against the National Academy of Science of Azerbaijan (NASA) and AzTV channel was rejected.
Togrul Babayev, the lawyer of Ali Insanov, ex-Health Minister, told Trend that the court appeal by ex-minister was rejected in the Supreme Court chaired by judge Bagir Asadov.
Insanov was detained in October, 2005. He was accused of attempting a coup d'etat and causing mass riots. By the decision made by the Azerbaijani Court on Heinous Crimes dated 20 April, Ali Insanov was found guilty in appropriation of property and abuse of power and sentenced to 11years imprisonment.
Under NASA's decision dated 4 May 2006, Insanov was excluded from the composition of the Academy.
In the letter sent to NASA, the Heinous Crimes asked to exclude Insanov from the composition of the Academy.
Insanov made a court appeal and asked court to consider the decision by NASA and letter ungrounded, to fine both defendants in the sum of AZN28mln, as well as to take special determination against the judge Faig Gasimov and send him to the Juridical-legal Council. The appeal was rejected.
Supreme court upheld the verdict by the Sabail District Court of Baku.
In the appeal against the AzTV channel ex-minister asked to deny the opinions voiced against him in video materials.
AzTV workers shot Insanov's country house immediately after arrest and he was called a criminal before court's decision.
Insanov stated he was insulted by such actions of AzTV. The Sabail Court rejected Insanov's appeal.
Babayev said that Insanov would make a court appeal to the European Court on Human rights after the Supreme Court announce its decision on the case.
