Azerbaijani chess player Azer Mirzayev leads in the eighth international chess tournament Caspian Sea Cup, held in Rasht, Iran.

Mirzayyev defeated the Armenian sportsman Samvel Ter-Salakyan. Ddemonstrating absolute results through four rounds (4 points) he is the sole leader of the tournament, said agency İRNA.

Caspian Sea Cup opened in Rasht, Iran's Gilan province, Feb. 11. Around 1,000 players from ten countries, including Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, India, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Iran, are competing in this international tournament.

The tournament will end Feb 18. The participants include 80 masters of sports of the international category and 27 international arbitrators serve in competition.
