BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 4. Yerevan's silence on the fate of missing Azerbaijanis testifies to its crimes, Deputy Chairman of the Organization of Veterans of War, Labor and the Armed Forces, Colonel Jalil Khalilov told Trend.

"Armenia's silence regarding the fate of nearly 4,000 missing Azerbaijanis is a gross violation of international laws and conventions," he said.

"Armenia's silence on the fate of nearly 4,000 missing Azerbaijanis violates international law and conventions." Despite all of Azerbaijan's efforts, Armenia has yet to resolve the problem of the fate of 3,890 of our compatriots who went missing during the first Karabakh war. "There are 3,171 military personnel and 719 civilians (71 children, 267 women, and 326 elderly people)," Khalilov stated.

"The fact that Armenia refuses to provide information about the fate of missing Azerbaijani citizens demonstrates that it disregards international laws and conventions and places little value on humanistic values," he added.

According to him, Azerbaijan's concern about the fate of its citizens who went missing during the first Karabakh war was repeatedly expressed from the highest tribunes by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and brought to the attention of the international community and organizations.

Khalilov expressed regret that no international organization has yet pressed Armenia on this issue, adding that international organizations voicing claims against Azerbaijan in connection with the Lachin border checkpoint remain silent on the issue of Armenia's failure to provide information on the fate of 3,890 Azerbaijanis.

"All of this demonstrates double standards and a bias toward our country." "However, everyone should be aware that Azerbaijan will resolve the issue of its citizens who went missing during the first Karabakh war," he stated.
