BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 2. According to preliminary results of the extraordinary parliamentary elections held in Azerbaijan on September 1, 68 candidates from the Yeni Azerbaijan Party (New Azerbaijan) are leading in the elections, Trend reports via CEC.
The preliminary results indicate that 45 independent candidates won in their districts.
To note, extraordinary parliamentary elections were held in Azerbaijan on September 1.
According to preliminary data, voter turnout at the elections amounted to 37.27 percent. The number of voters casting their ballots amounted to 2,196,771. A total of 5,895 polling stations submitted their protocols to the CEC.
A total of 112,749 domestic observers were registered to observe the election. More than 65,000 of them were representatives of political parties.
The number of registered international observers was 598, representing 51 organizations, in 69 countries.
Out of 990 registered candidates in the parliamentary elections, 305 are representatives of 25 political parties. Whereas 371 candidates are members of political parties, they were not nominated by the parties to which they belong. A total of 676 candidates have political party affiliation.
