BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 20. The total value of food products imported by Azerbaijan increased from January through August 2022, Trend reports via the bulletin of the State Customs Committee.
According to the committee, this figure amounted to $1.38 billion, up by $238.4 million (20.82 percent) on annual basis.
In the first eight months, Azerbaijan imported over 26,140 tons of meat worth $45.49 million, 6,630 tons of milk ($11.2 million), 12,940 tons of dairy products ($74.16 million), 239,430 tons of vegetables and fruits ($151.19 million), 9,530 tons of tea (more than $48.2 million).
During the specified period, the country also imported more than 632,540 tons of wheat, barley, corn and rice worth over $246.8 million.
Meanwhile, the import of vegetable fats and oils amounted to nearly 99,320 tons worth more than $172.1 million.
At the same time, Azerbaijan’s import of tobacco and tobacco products grew by 1.02 percent year on year - up to $63.17 million.
From January through August this year, import volume of pharmaceutical products increased by 3,950 tons (26.15 percent) - up to 19,060 tons compared to the same period in 2021, and the import value - by $47.2 million (29.11 percent) - up to more than $432.1 million.
