As many as 2,285 permissions were issued from January through March 2020 (11,4 percent more compared to the same period of previous year) for construction of buildings of 1.5 million square meters in Georgia, Trend reports referring to Georgian National Statistical Office (Geostat).
According to Geostat, 78.3 percent of the total number of the permits were issued in four regions of the country: 54.9 percent for construction works in Tbilisi, 10 percent - in Kvemo Kartli region, 6.7 percent - in Adjara and Imereti regions.
In 1Q2020, the permissions were issued for the construction of multifunctional residential complexes, hotels, trade facilities, industrial enterprises, agricultural objects and other buildings. The relatively large share of the permissions granted falls on the multifunctional residential complexes.
Over half of the scope of completed construction works was carried out in four regions of the country: 29.5 percent account for Tbilisi, 12.6 percent - for Kakheti region, 12.2 percent - for Imereti region, and 11.8 percent - for Kvemo Kartli region
In the reporting period, construction of 484 objects (21.8 percent less compared to the same months of previous year) with a total area of 419,700 square meters (32.8 percent less compared to the same months of previous year) was completed in Georgia.
