Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Khalilova / the Capital Markets Sectors Division in the Asian Development Bank (ADB) selected Azerbaijan and China for cooperation in 2008, the Director of the Capital Markets and Financial Sectors Division William Willms said in Baku on 14 December.
According to Willms, cooperation with Azerbaijan's private sector is considered to be a priority in ADB's strategic interests in Caucasus and the post-Soviet countries.
"We are interested in transactions in the financial sector, and presently we are negotiating with local banks," Willms said.
The ADB announced its plans to expand its portfolio on the Azerbaijani banking sector to $120mln. So far ADB has approved credits for Azerbaijan in the sum of $51mln.
