Azerbaijan, Baku, 31 January / corr Trend I.Khalilova / The World Bank's mission headed by Andreas Rode began its visit to Baku to prepare the second project on improvement of water supply and sewerage system in small cities of Azerbaijan, a source stated at Bank's Baku office.
The second project covers 21 regions and five in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) of Azerbaijan. Nearly $200-250mln may be received from the bank.
The WB allocated $230mln for the first water project covering 22 regions while the project totaled $310mln.
The water and sewerage systems in the country are in a bad condition due to long-term use and lack of investment. Approximately 700,000 people will be provided with water and sewerage systems. The project is intended for 2012.
