( dpa )- Pioneer Corp will withdraw from plasma display panel production by the end of March 2009 due to heavy competition in Japan's thin-screen television business, a local business daily reported Tuesday.
The Japanese home electronics company has decided to buy the plasma screens Matsushita Electric Industrial Co for television production due to lack of profitability amid escalating competition.
Matsushita maintains the largest global market share for plasma displays with 31 per cent, with Hitachi Ltd holding 10 per cent.
LD Electric Co and Samsung SDI of South Korea had 28 per cent and 22 per cent respectively.
