Tenge exchange rate stabilized

The tenge exchange rate was stabilized, Kazakh National Bank Chairman Grigoriy Marchenko said at a governmental meeting in Astana.

"We announced the currency's devaluation Feb. 4 and stabilized exchange rates at big banks Feb. 5," Marchenko said. "We stabilized rates at non-banking exchange stations Feb. 6. All is in order for the moment."

Marchenko said the exchange rates at booths are 147 tenge to $1. He added that the bank will take the appropriate measures if they exceed the limit in the regions.
