Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 17 / Trend , E.Ismayilov /
The Baku Metro transports 550,000-560,000 passengers daily, a source said.
The Baku Metro switched to a new traffic regime to reduce tension during peak hours in 2008.
Trains now run at two-minute intervals with 30 trains traveling in both directions per hour.
The increase in passenger activity was calculated through the use of electronic cards.
Before and after rush hour, trains run at 2.5-minute intervals with 24 trains traveling per hour in both directions.
Earlier, the Baku Metro worked in a dual regime.
Trains ran at 2.5-minute intervals in winter and 3-minute intervals in summer.
The Baku Metro has operated since 1967.
