In January 2009, prices on consumer goods and tariffs on services decreased by 0.6 percent from December 2008 and increased by 11.9 percent from January 2008, Azerbaijan State Statistics Committee said on Feb. 19.
Prices on food declined in January by one percent and on non-foods products by 0.3 percent. Tariffs on services have not changed.
Food products went up by 14.5 percent, non-foods by 8.5 percent and tariffs for services by 7.7 percent compared with January 2008.
Last month, the base consumer price index hit 99.4 percent and 113.5 percent compared with January 2008. The index is calculated with exclusion of goods and services that are prone to seasonal changes (fruits and vegetables). Prices on them are regulated by the State.
On Feb. 19, the official exchange rate is 0.8062 manat to $1.
