Macroeconomic situation in Turkmenistan is stable: Vice Prime Minister

The macroeconomic situation remains stable in Turkmenistan, which allows to forecast "further stable growth of economy", Vice Prime Minister Tuvakmammad Japarov said.

The Vice Prime Minister made this statement after the discussions of preliminary results of the first quarter of 2009. Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdymuhamedov has recently instructed the government to consider possible risks of global financial crisis.

Turkmenistan is a key supplier of natural gas in the Caspian region. Because of the sharp drop in demand for the most important export products in world markets, particularly textiles, Turkmenistan has lost some of the profits.
