Three laboratories to be established to ensure food security in Azerbaijan: State Custom Committee

The Azerbaijan State Customs Committee (ASCC) announced an action plan and work done in 2008 and in first six months of 2009 under the state program on food security of Azerbaijan's population in 2008-2015 and a state program on poverty reduction and sustainable development in 2008-2015, ASCC said on July 11.

The state committee plans to establish two regional laboratories based in Ganja and Bilasuvar, as well as central laboratory of the custom's committee in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to implement the State program on food security of Azerbaijan's population in 2008-2009.

The committee has developed and submitted proposals to the government to implement the state program on poverty reduction and sustainable development in 2008-2015. The committee offered amendments and additions to some legislative acts to improve customs legislation, made changes in the committee's structure, advanced some proposals to improve custom's procedures, proposed to review custom tariffs to encourage entrepreneurship.

The committee also proposed transition from the multistage state duty system for commodity import (0-0.5,-1-3-5-10-15 percents) to small staged (0-5-15 percents).
