Azerbaijani industrial production growth exceeds average index over CIS countries by 16 percent

GDP growth amounted to 3.6 percent in the first half of 2009 in Azerbaijan, as compared to the same period of 2008, against the decline by 9 percent in the total of the CIS countries, a report of the CIS Statistical Committee, reflecting the statistics of the CIS countries in the first half of 2009 said.

The country's industrial production increased by one percent for a year, with an overall decline by 15 percent in the CIS countries.
Retail trade turnover increased by 8.5 percent, with a total four percent reduction in the region. Money expenditures of the population for the purchase of consumer goods and services were increased by 14.2 percent and incomes by 16.2 percent in the country.
