About 338 hotels operated in Georgia in 2008. According to the statistical department, about 18 hotels have been put into operation. This figure hits 5.1 percent of operating hotels.
About 7.7 percent of 338 operating hotels are owned by the state. About 303 hotels are owned by local physical and legal entities and 9 by foreign physical and legal entities.
Limited company is the most wide spread organization-legal form in hotel sector. About 48 percent of operating hotels falls on limited companies. Individual enterprises hit 47 percent, joint stock companies - 4.1 percent, companies with joint responsibility - 0.3 percent and legal entities of public law- 0.6 percent.
