Over 70% of investments in Azerbaijan fell on non-oil sector in Jan-Aug

In January to August of 2009, nearly 4.562.5 million manat was invested in the economy of Azerbaijan, a drop of 15.3 percent from the figures of the previous year. According to the data provided by the State Statistics Committee, private enterprises and organizations invested 1.778.8 million manat (39 percent of total investments) in Azerbaijan's economy and public enterprises and organizations - 2.783.7 million manat (61 percent).

Almost 70.5 percent of total investments, or 3.215 million manat, was directed at repair and construction work. Investment for the construction of production facilities totaled 3.547.5 million manat (77.5 percent), while 1.015 million manat  (22.2 percent) non-production facilities.

Foreign investments with special weight of 17.9 percent amounted to 816.097 million manat. Internal investments comprised 82.1 percent, or 3.7 billion manat, of the total. Majority of internal investments (70.3 percent) fell to state enterprises and organizations, being less by 5.5 percent as compared to similar period of 2008.

Investments in the oil sector made up 26.7 percent of capital investments to country's economy (1.219.1 million manat), non-oil sector - 73.3 percent (3.343.4 million manat), which is 4.1 percent less than the relevant 2008 figure.

So, 39.3 percent of investments fell on industrial sphere, 3.8 percent on agriculture, 0.1 percent on fishery, 3.4 percent - trade and services, 0.6 percent - construction, 28.5 percent - transport, 1.8 percent - communication, 1.8 percent - health care, 1.4 percent - education, 10.2 percent - operations with real estate (8.5 percent - housing), 4.9 percent on state administration, 3.6 percent - other spheres.

Roughly 1.568.9 million manat, or 33.25 percent, of funds allocated in state budget for capital investments in the amount of 4,718 million manat were invested for construction of objects. These objects were financed owing to budget funds.

The investments by the enterprises and organizations amounted to 2.165.1 million manat (47.5 percent of total investments), bank credit - 230.6  million manat (5.1 percent), the budget - 1.699.3 million manat (37.2 percent), of off-budgetary funds - 306.9 million manat (6.7 percent), community funds - 160.2 million manat (3.5 percent), and other funds - 0.4 million manat.
