Baku will host a U.N. Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) ministerial meeting for member countries in early December, Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister Samir Veliyev said.
A report on trade and human development needs in Azerbaijan and other SPECA countries was presented today in Baku.
"The assessments for each country will be considered in Baku Dec. 1-2 at a SPECA meeting for member countries," Veliyev said.
He added that a final report will be adopted at the meeting. A declaration will also be signed. Projects financed by donors are likely to be implemented on the basis of the declaration.
He said Azerbaijan's GDP increased by 4.5 percent in January-May 2010 and its volume per capita jumped by 3.1 percent. The trade volume over five months amounted to $10.6 billion. During the period, Azerbaijan engaged in trade relations with 126 countries, with foreign trade surplus hitting $5.8 billion.
