The Azerbaijani Chamber of Auditors intends to take serious activities against the auditors not adhering to the international auditing standards, Advisor to Chamber of Auditors Head Najaf Talibov said today.
"If the Chamber reveals non-compliance of international standards by auditors, then their licenses could be revoked," Talibov said. "Relatively slight punishment will be allied in regard to the auditors for minor violations s."
Talibov said currently the Chamber's representative carry out serious checks on the apply of international standards in this area by auditors. The Chamber's special structure, whose members include representatives from relevant agencies, carries out monitoring. Creating a separate structure for inspections, Talibov, is one of the requirements of international auditing standards.
"The results will be announced early next year. Companies and individuals that match the requirements will be identified based on these results," Talibov said.
Azerbaijan began to introduce international auditing standards from Jan.1, 2010.
The Azerbaijani Chamber of Auditors was established in September 1995 and began its activity in April 1996. Azerbaijan adopted the law on "Auditing activity" in 1994. At present, 53 audit firms and 44 individuals engaged in auditing activities.
