Azerbaijan will complete automation of pension system by 2013

The Azerbaijani State Social Protection Fund (SSPF) plans to complete work on the full automation of the pension system in the country by 2011, State Fund Head Salim Muslimov told journalists. Automation of the pension system in Azerbaijan is carried out within State Pension-Insurance System Development Program for 2009-2015.

"Although, the state program provides for the implementation of automation system in 2013-2015, we plan to complete this work by 2013," Muslimov said. .

According to him, full completion of this process is directly related to the issue of collecting information on every pensioner in the database.

The project envisaged the automation of the database for citizens who have retired after Jan. 1, 2006. After completion of the project by the end of each year, the fund will notify each payer on compulsory social insurance about the state of his individual account and accumulated amount.

The main components of the project are to develop and implement an automated management system, set up a central filing system and create a processing center, a regional training center, backup center server and others.

The State Pension-Insurance System Development Program for 2009-2015 is aimed to further improve the pension system and achieve sustainable and dynamic development of the pension insurance system.

Under the program, the State Fund should ensure  strengthening of insurance principles in the pension insurance system and improve the mechanism of regulation of insurance payments, improving the system of compulsory social insurance and development of voluntary pension insurance, increase of pension component of the acquisition, formation and development of the institution of private pension institutions to ensure payment the ability of pension-insurance system, as well as providing medium and long term financial sustainability, implementation of modern information and telecommunication technologies.
