The figure on the number of cars per 1,000 people increased by 1,5 times and amounted to 110 units in Azerbaijan for the last five years, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said.
As of 2010, the number of cars in the country increased by 56.700 and reached 982.600 units compared to 2009.
Roughly 79.4 percent fell to passenger cars, 12.1 percent - trucks, 3 percent - buses and the rest part on special cars of the total number of vehicles in the country.
As of late 2010, cars transported 99.9 million tons of cargo. It is 6 percent more than in 2009. The volume of passenger traffic totaled 1.2 billion (increased by 7.7 percent). Roughly 96.5 percent of passengers were transported by buses and 3.5 percent - by cars.
