Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Feb.1 / Trend H. Hasanov /

International company Sika, operating in Turkmenistan for more than 20 years, hopes for further cooperation, including in the sphere of increasing earthquake resistance of buildings, the Turkmen media outlets reported today.

The company's representative said in an interview with the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper said that Sika can conduct reinforcement of load-bearing structures, oblique sections, increase seismic resistance.

Turkmenistan is currently experiencing a construction boom - architectural complexes are built across the country, and most of them are high-rise. They are houses, government agencies, educational institutions and shopping malls.

The Caspian littoral state is located in seismic zone. On the night of Oct. June, 1948 Ashgabat suffered a catastrophic earthquake, whose power reached ten points and killed, according to various data, a hundred thousand people or more.

It is also known that the country's territory is characterized by the presence of structurally unstable ground bases, and high corrosiveness is observed under the climatic conditions. High salinity of groundwater, the intensity of solar radiation and other ecological factors are the subject of a research of the antiseismic construction institute in Ashgabat.
