Taxpayer certification will be conducted on a regular basis in Azerbaijan in the future, Tax Minister Fazil Mammadov said at a press conference.

"The current certification date is scheduled for late May, but I believe it will be extended, as certification is carried out only on weekends. However, after changes to the certification department's structure, certification will be carried out regularly," Mammadov stressed.

The ministry, he added, has preliminary results requiring careful analysis. The certification has revealed violations such as illegal entrepreneurship activities and illegal rentals.

The Tax Ministry launched taxpayer certification on Feb. 1 in an attempt to check the taxpayer and business database and inventory. Activities are conducted by the ministry's employees throughout the country through individual observation and questioning.

Taxpayers also provide information, which is used for taxpayer certification.

Based on the certification, the data will be summed up with the local tax authorities and inserted into the AVIS automated system. The data inventory process will then begin.
