Consumer prices in Azerbaijan in August increased by 0.6 percent compared to the previous month, the State Statistics Committee said.

Food prices increased by one percent, prices on industrial goods - by 0.2 percent, tariffs for paid services, rendered to the population - by 0.3 percent per month.

All three groups increased in prices in August despite deflation has continued since April.
Consumer prices have decreased by 0.2 percentage points since early 2011 - up to 8.5 percent in January-August.

Beef, lamb, sausages, fresh fish, unpasteurized milk, eggs, butter, margarine, sunflower and corn oils, lemons, chestnuts, greens, cucumbers, green peas, beets, carrots, garlic, onions, sugar and granulated sugar increased in prices in August.

Flour, buckwheat, pasteurized and sterilized milk, bananas, apples, pears, plums, peaches, watermelons and melons, grapes, cabbage, tomatoes, paprika, eggplants, potatoes cheapened.

Clothes and shoes, oil and water-based paints, parquet varnish, wall paper, water-regulating devices, chopped wood, wood chips, bricks, laminated parquet, furniture set, tables and stools for kitchen, bedroom furniture, living room furniture and dining room furniture increased in prices in August.

Window glass, parquet, cement, washing machines, gas stoves, juicers, mixers cheapened.

The tariffs for air passenger traffic increased in prices among the paid services rendered to the population in August.
