Korea assists Azerbaijan with land information management system

The Azerbaijani State Committee on Land and Cartography and the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade have begun a feasibility study surrounding the creation of land information management and geographic information systems in Azerbaijan, the committee said on Tuesday.

The Azerbaijani State Committee on Land and Cartography and the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade have begun a feasibility study surrounding the creation of land information management and geographic information systems in Azerbaijan, the committee said on Tuesday.

"At present technological parameters and the volume of work to be conducted within this project are being assessed. Other areas are being discussed and the work over the feasibility study has begun," the committee reported.

The delegation from the committee recently travelled to Korea to participate in the 15th International Conference on geographic information systems and the international event Smart Korea 2011, dedicated to the use of high technology in the field of geodesy, cartography and cadastre.

The Azerbaijani State Committee on Land and Cartography signed a grant agreement worth $1.5 million with the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on June 23, 2009. The grant agreement within the project called Improvement of the cadaster in Azerbaijan, was concluded for a period of 18 months.
