Kyrgyz Agriculture Ministry: Agriculture sector growth rate hits 2.7 percent

The growth rate of agriculture sector hit 2.7 percent between January and October 2011, the Agriculture Ministry of Kyrgyzstan said on Tuesday.

"Between January and October 2011, a gross output of agricultural products by all farm categories was produced at the current price of 128.611.4 billion soums. The growth rate compared to the corresponding period of 2010 hit 102.7 percent, including the livestock industry - 100.7 per cent and 104.2 percent in the crop sector," KyTAG quotes Kyrgyz ministry as saying.

As reported, the growth rate above the national level is recorded in the economy of Osh (103.8 percent), Chui (103.5 percent), Jalalabad (103.2 percent) and Naryn (102.9 percent) regions.

Growth of crop production is achieved by increasing the production of vegetables compared to 2010 (101.7 percent), potatoes (102.9 percent), fruit and berries (113.7 percent), grapes (132.7 percent), cotton (156.9 percent) and sugar beet (175.2 percent).

The official exchange rate is 46.145.5 soums to $1.
