Kazakhstan's largest steel company - JSC ArcelorMittal Temirtau intends to open a manufacturing of gondolas, ArcelorMittal former CEO Frank Pannier said on Tuesday.
ArcelorMittal Temirtau got involved in its plans of producing gondola through Indian company Simplex, Pannier said at a meeting with Berik Kamaliyev, the Minister for Transport and Communications.

Kazakhstan is running a deficit of gondolas over the last years.

According to Kamaliyev, 10.58 million tons of cargo has been carried out for ArcelorMittal Temirtau since the beginning of the year, which is 96 percent of the target (11 million tons).
It included 7.596 million tons of coal (96 percent of the target), 2.655 million tons of metal (99 percent) and 333,000 tons of slag (90 percent). "Non-fulfillment of the target due to organizational reasons from the shipper," Kamaliyev said.

According to Kamaliyev, at present time the gondola park of the Kazakhstan Railways amounts to 23,000 units. The minister highlighted that the company is prepared to buy rail cars, but the market still fails to the demand fully.
