Aktau port transships 1.064 mln tons of cargo

Kazakhstan's Aktau International Commercial Sea Port transshipped roughly 1.064 million tons of dry and oil-loading cargo or 134.1 percent of the targets in November, Aktau port reported on Tuesday.

In this period Aktau port transshipped 688,500 tons of oil-loading cargo (122.9 percent of the target), 181,200 ton of hardware (118.4 percent of the target), 112,000 ton of ferry cargo (361.3 percent of the target) and 49,600 ton of grain (198.4 percent of the target).

Other transshipped goods made up 32,300 ton in November (134.5 percent of the target)

A total of 179 ship calls were registered in November.

In January to November Aktau International Sea Commercial Port transshipped over 11.134 million tons of dry and oil-loading cargo (111 percent of the target).

Some 7.477 million tons of petroleum and petroleum products, 1.822 million tons of hardware, 247,000 tons of grain and 304,000 tons of other cargo were transshipped in this period.

The number of ship calls registered since the beginning of 2011 has made up 1,927 ships.

Aktau port, located on the east coast of the Caspian Sea, is Kazakhstan's only port for international transportation of various dry cargo, crude oil and petroleum products.

The Aktau port renders to domestic and foreign customers a wide range of quality services in the field of sea port, service-related goods, vessels and passengers. The port with its 12 berths transships general and liquid cargoes such as petroleum and petroleum products, metals, grain and other goods and cargo ferry.

The design capacity of the port is 11.5 million tons per year.

The port was established as a transport hub of several modes of transport such as rail, road, water and pipeline. The Aktau port is a part of three international transport corridors - TRACECA, North-South and INOGATE.
