The Band-e-Kharke oil field near the Ahwaz in southwest Iran will be ready for early production of 7,500 barrels of oil by late summer of 2012, the Iran Students' News Agency reports.

Although discovered in 1960, Band-e-Kharke's hydrocarbon reserves weren't proven when an exploration well was drilled so the search was stopped. Oil was discovered when a second well was drilled in 2006-2007.

Work to develop the Band-e-Kharke field began in late 2008 -early 2009. Under the development contract, early production should begin in the spring of 2012.

Petropars is gathering three-dimensional seismic data for the field on behalf of Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarters.
