WB new regional director to visit Uzbekistan

World Bank's new regional director for Central Asia Saroj Kumar Jha was appointed on February 1, 2012. He will visit Uzbekistan on Feb. 16-18 within the familiarization tour to Central Asia, the WB Tashkent office told Trend on Monday.

The WB regional office is located in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Earlier, Saroj Kumar Jha worked as WB global program manager for Disaster Risk Management and the head of Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR).

During the visit he will meet with Uzbek governmental representatives, in particular, with the management of Minister of Finance and Minister of Economy.

Uzbekistan joined the World Bank in 1995. Since 1995, the Bank has allocated loans to Uzbekistan worth about $1.46 billion for implementation of projects in the sphere of privatization, financial sector development, modernization of agriculture, energy, improving social infrastructure, health and education.
