Platinum reserves must be examined by international experts to attract investments in developing these fields in Azerbaijan, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Huseyn Bagirov told Trend today.
"International financial institutions do not perceive our intelligence as a basis for lending," he said. "International expertise must be conducted. The task of the ministry is to discover and prove the reserves. We do not deal with the economic side of the question." He added Azerbaijan has great potential in mining platinum.
"This process is underway, but it is very long," he said.
Radioactive and platinum group elements were revealed in the four square-kilometre area in the south-east of the Goy Gol region as a result of nuclear and geodetic research in 2011.
"The platinum's probable reserves in this area are estimated at about 50-100 tons excluding other platinum group elements," he said earlier.
