President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov met the Vice-President of the World Bank on Europe and Central Asia Philippe Le Houerou, according to the Turkmen government.
"As the Le Houerou stated, World Bank fully supports the strategy of diversification of Turkmenistan's national economy, the modernization of the banking and financial institutions and is ready to render all possible assistance in this process, aiming at the conclusion of the country on the new front line of development" - said in report.
In recent years, the revised Constitution of Turkmenistan for the first time contains an article about the transition to market relations.
The Caspian country is rich in natural gas, export volumes of cotton and grain are harvested, diversification of the economy carried out - textile industry and the industry of oil and gas processing especially advanced.
Turkmenistan has conducted several reforms in the monetary policy: the national currency denomination, the unification of exchange rates, transition to international accounting standards planned.
The representative of the World Bank arrived in the Turkmen capital to participate in the international conference "Globalization of the financial system and inter-regional criteria for its sustainable development."
