Uzbekistan increases car production

Uzbekistan increased its car production by 2.3 per cent in January - July 2012 compared to the same period last year, the State Committee on Statistics said on Thursday.

Passenger cars (excluding specialised) increased by 2.2 per cent, buses by 17.2 per cent and trucks by 36 per cent of the total production output.

The SCS does not specify the number of produced cars.

There are three automobile plants in Uzbekistan now: JSC GM Uzbekistan (formerly JSC UzDaewooAuto Asaka, Andijan region), producing cars, JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan which produces trucks with a capacity from 15 to 50 tons and SamAvto (Samarkand).

Uzbekistan's automobile industry is planning to produce a total of 240,000 passenger cars as well as 3000 buses and trucks in 2012.
