Turkmenistan activates building of railway shared with Iran and Kazakhstan

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov got acquainted with the construction of one of the sections of transnational railway Uzen-Gyzylgaya-Bereket-Etrek-Gorgan, which will be an important part of the international transport corridor North-South, the Turkmen government said.

This project is implemented on the basis of intergovernmental agreement signed in 2007 between Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran. The Turkmen section is the longest.

"Stressing that the railway North-South should meet high international standards by all parameters, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov noted the need to accelerate the pace of construction," the media said.

Turkmen leader demanded to keep all matters relating to the organization, coordination, management and quality assurance under strict control to ensure uninterrupted supply of equipment, materials , development of railway stations and improvement of the surrounding areas.

Berdimuhamedov visited the Serhetyaka station where CEO of Consolidated Consultants Engineering and Environment (Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan) Haddad Nedal reported on the work being done.
