Kazakhstan’s GDP growth amounts to 5.6 percent for eight months

GDP growth in Kazakhstan amounted to 5.6 percent during eight months of 2012, the Kazakh Statistics Agency chairman Alikhan Smailov said at the briefing on Friday, CA-NEWS reported.

According to the agency, short-term economic index amounted to 103.5 percent in January-August compared to the same period of last year.

Smailov said that the Consumer Price Index amounted to 103.2 percent in August compared to December of last year.

Food prices increased by 2.8 percent in August, he said. Prices on non-food items increased by 2 percent, paid services - by 5.2 percent.

Smailov also stressed that Kazakhstan's economic growth, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will amount to 6 percent.
