An earthquake which hit northwest Iran on August 11 created an 11 trillion rials (about $900 million) loss on the industrial, agricultural and service sectors, IRNA quoted Governor General of East Azarbaijan Province, Ahmad Alirezabeigi, as saying.
The agricultural sector has suffered 1.76 trillion rials (some $144 million) loss, he noted.
On August 11, a 6.4 magnitude earthquake rocked the city of Ahar in East Azerbaijan Province. According to the latest reports, 306 people were killed and over 3000 injured.
The Iranian government has allocated $49 million for rebuilding and re-constructing the homes of the quake affected victims in the province, the country's Interior minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said.
