Azerbaijan Airlines to expand air fleet in 2013

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has received its first A-340 passenger aircraft manufactured by Airbus, a source at AZAL told Trend today.

The source said that at present, the staff is being trained and the aircraft will soon enter service.

"Another plane of the same model will arrive in the country by April 2013", the source said.

Earlier, AZAL ordered four new E-190 aircraft from Brazilian Embraer SA. The total order was valued at $180.8 million. AZAL also plans to lease two used Embraer E-170 aircraft.

The source said Azerbaijan is expected to get aircraft manufactured by Embraer in the second half of the year.

"These aircraft are expected to be received this summer", the source said.
