Azerbaijan sets up processing center for serving public transport travelcards

The Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan is completing work on the development of the processing center, which will deal with the issue of travelcards for public transportation, the Deputy Transport Minister Musa Panahov told Trend on Thursday.

The Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan is completing work on the development of the processing center, which will deal with the issue of travelcards for public transportation, the Deputy Transport Minister Musa Panahov told Trend on Thursday.

According to him, work is being done in conjunction with the international payment system MasterCard and several banks.

"The equipment is currently being installed in the buses, specialists and drivers trained, and an order made for travelcards," Panahov said.

According to him, the main task for today is to distribute travel transport cards among the population as well as conduct explanatory works for the use of these cards.

"Bus fares in Baku will be paid only through electronic cards by the end of this year," Panahov said.

Loading balance on the card will be possible through banks, kiosks and mobile terminals, which will be available in different parts of the city.
