Between January and April 2013, the volume of construction work in Azerbaijan increased by 22.2 percent to 2.14 billion manat compared to the same period of 2012, the State Statistics Committee reported.
According to the report, of the total volume of construction work, 68.5 percent accounted for the primary construction, reconstruction and expansion, 17 percent - for overhaul, 2.6 percent - for current repair and 11.9 percent - for other construction work.
78 percent of the construction works were carried out by non-state construction companies.
In January-March 2013, the Azerbaijani construction sector employed 93,100 people with nominal wages of 588.7 manat, which is 5.1 percent more than the same period last year.
Alongside, the average salary in state-owned companies amounted to 484.3 manat (a 12.2 percent increase), private companies - 640.2 manat (with a decrease of 1.6 percent).
The level of wages in the construction of buildings grew by 3.7 percent - to 570 manat in average, specialized construction (up 7.3 percent) - to 754.8 manat. In the field of civil construction, wages increased by 14.6 percent to 446.5 manat.
