The market of online sales of insurance products in Azerbaijan has good growth prospects, the deputy chairman of Azerbaijani insurance company Buta Sığorta Rafael Azizov said.
"The volume of online sales is directly related to the performance on Internet usage in the country. Azerbaijan shows good pace of Internet penetration, which can indicate serious prospects for market growth of online sales in the country, in particular in the insurance industry," Azizov said, speaking at IV International Insurance Forum held in Baku today.
According to him, Azerbaijani insurance companies are just beginning to develop the market of online sales, however, it is already possible to speak of its great potential.
"This sales channel has a number of advantages: online purchases are much faster and cheaper (do not require payment of any fees), more convenient (customers do not have to stand in queues to come to the office, etc.)," Azizov said.
In his opinion, factors such as the development of payment systems and the increasing popularity of social networking helm the insurers to increase their sales through Internet, however, the widespread use of mobile phones, smart phones and other gadgets can say that the future of online-insurance will be in hands mobile technologies.
"At the initial stage, when the company's website is not yet promoted, or it does not work with large e-commerce platforms, referring to social networks may be very helpful. For example, through our official Facebook page, we conclude that about 10 contracts for compulsory liability insurance of vehicle owners per month. Moreover, it is useful to work with web sites that specialize in online commerce, especially in the sale of cars," Azizov said.
