Iranian commander: IRGC ready to help government

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) is ready to help the Iranian government in economy and construction sectors, IRGC Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said on Wednesday.

He went on to note that the IRGC has officials have held several meetings with the country's ministers including oil and roads and urban development ministers, Fars News Agency reported.

According to IRGC commanders, Khatam al-Anbia firm has carried out several projects in the country so far and is ready to do more in future.

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani on September 16 called on the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps to carry out three or four national mega projects.

Addressing top commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, President Rouhani stressed that the Army of the Guardians should not be considered as an opponent for the private sector.

"The Army of the Guardians is now able to carry out some mega projects that the private sector can not afford to pay for," he said.

Khatam al-Anbia is an Iranian engineering firm controlled by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The firm, also known as GHORB, is the IRGC's major engineering arm and one of Iran's largest contractors in industrial and development projects.

Khatam al-Anbia was created during the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war to help rebuild the country, and has diversified over the years into companies dealing with mechanical engineering, energy, mining and defense.
