Iran’s crude steel output ups by 2 percent

Over 7.745 million tons of crude steel were produced in Iran for the first six months of the current solar year (started on March 21), the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) said, IRNA news agency reported.

The figure shows a 2 per cent increase compared to the same period of last solar year.
Iran's steel products output surpassed 7.522 million tons during the mentioned period.

According to the report, the state-owned companies share 7.323 million tons of the country's produced crude steel during the first half of the current solar year.

The country's total steel output stood at 8.377 million tons, including 1.407 million tons of rebar during the first six months of the current solar year.

About 6.43 million tons of crude steel were produced in Iran for the first five months of the current solar year, which was 6.6 percent more compared to the same period of last year.

Iran's total steel products output surpassed 7.277 million tons in the mentioned period.

Deputy Industry, Mine, and Trade Minister Seyyed Alireza Shoja'ei said on July 19 that Iran's steel production capacity surpassed 31 million tons in the previous solar year.

"The country's steel products output stood at 17.4 million tons in the mentioned period," the IRNA News Agency quoted Shoja'ei as saying.

Iranian Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Vajihollah Ja'fari said on June 30 that the country plans to boost its crude steel production capacity up to 24 million tons by the end of the current solar year (March 20, 2014).
